| How do I request hosting? |
When requesting hosting, you should make a post in the appropriate forum ("Free Php Hosting Resource Request") You must register at the forum prior to posting for hosting. Before you apply for a website, be sure that you have read all of the other FAQ's in this section, including the Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, and Important Information.
Also, follow the request format below when posting:
Topic Title:
Your username and add 'request'. For example: My username is John Doe, so my request's title would be "John Doe Request".
Content Of The Post :
1) Include an introduction about yourself including nationality & age.
2) A description of the website you wish to host.
Be as specific as possible. If you expect to upload several images or have an image gallery, provide an estimated for the number of images and average file size. It would also be helpful if you could host your images at a site such as http://www.imageshack.us/
Note: This is the important part as we will be verifying your site according to this. Be honest!
3) Your Domain or Sub-domain name (yourchoice.hostmatrix.org)
If you have a domain to use then insert it here. Otherwise, pick a subdomain.
4) Already have a working website?
If you have a working website, place a link to it here.
This is not required, but it is very helpful.
5) Package of your choice.
The entry package is "HM Package 0"
6) Your email address
It must be a real one as our hosting provider will be communicating through it.
7) Languages Used on the Site
You must specify all languages that will be used on the site, be it in plain text or image format

| How can I upgrade my account? |
There are two types of upgrade requests: specials and resources. Specials are Databases, Email Accounts, and FTP accounts. Resources are space and bandwidth. There are certain requirements that must be met before you can request for either upgrade.
Specials Upgrade
Requirements: You can request for an upgrade when you are using all of your alotted Databases, Emails, or FTPs. You must also be active in the community. Your post quality will also be taken into consideration. Upgrades for specials won't be as hard to get because the resources used count toward your space/bandwidth.
Example: You have 1 FTP account and would like another. You haven't used your database or Email yet, but you can still request for the next upgrade which will give you 5 of everything.
Resources Upgrade
Requirements: Since this is the most expensive part of hosting, the requirements are a bit different. In order to make a request, you must be using 90% of your resources, that is storage space OR bandwidth. You can request for both to be upgraded, but you will only get an upgrade for what is close to being used up. Post count and quality play a huge part in this. If you are very active and your posts help, expect to get upgrades easy.
Example: You have used 182/200mb of bandwidth but only 10/20mb of space, you can expect to get an upgrade with your bandwidth. If your waiting for more space to put something else on your site (i.e. a forum), make sure you say that in your post request and you will probably get the space upgrade as well if your posts have a high enough quality.
Request Procedure
You can post your request in the appropriate forum (Hosting Upgrade Request Forum).
You must use the following format or expect to be denied:
Topic Title:
Your username + "Upgrade Request".
Example: My username is John Doe. My topic title is "John Doe Request"
Post:
Upgrade Request: [Specials/Resources]
Extra Info: Tell the admin why you need the upgrade. This is really important if you space isn't all used, but you need a upgrade because you need to add a forum or something.

| What is considered acceptable use for my site? |
Host Matrix.org does not review pages for content before they are uploaded. Hence, it does not verify, endorse or otherwise take responsibility for the content of any user-created pages or files stored in users' web space. Host Matrix.org reserves the right to remove any file from its servers that it determines is in violation of its rules and guidelines. Users are solely responsible for all files contained in their own directories, and can be held legally liable for the contents of their web site.
The following is a list of content and behavior that is NOT acceptable on web pages hosted by Host Matrix.org:
1. Content that promotes or contains links to sites containing nudity, pornography, adult material, sex, exploitation of children, etc. Websites must be viewable by all audiences.
2. Content that infringes on copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or other intellectual property. This includes "warez" (pirated software), unlawful MP3 music files, copyrighted images or videos, etc.
3. Content that condones, promotes, contains, or links to unlawful products or activities, including cracks, hacks, their associated utilities, or other piracy related information.
4. Websites that primarily serve non-html files. Non-html content includes binary files, downloads, large images, streaming media, video clips, programs (e.g. .exe), large media files split into multiple small ones, archived material (e.g. .zip, .rar, .ace, etc). Sites with little html content, whose main purpose is for sharing non-html files for download, may be removed without notice unless they are displaying their fair share of banner ads in relation to the amount of bandwidth they use. Host Matrix.org derives its operating expenses from advertising. Hence, sites that use large amounts of bandwidth with little contribution to Host Matrix.org's banner-derived revenue may be terminated without notice. On free accounts, Host Matrix.org does not permit "hotlinking". All non-html files must be linked to html pages on the user's site. Links to non-html files on a user's page from other sites must FIRST link to an html page on that user's account. Other sites may NOT link directly to non-html content such as images. Individual files stored in users' free web space may not exceed 1000k in size. They may not be stored in archived or encrypted format (e.g. zip, rar, ace, exe, etc).
5. Spanning Web sites over multiple accounts in order to increase available web space. Each account must host its own website and may not be a duplicate or an extension of another website on Host Matrix.org's servers.
6. Content that promotes the sending of unsolicited e-mail (spam), or mail fraud schemes. Users who utilize Host Matrix.org's resources, including e-mail addresses for spam are also subject to prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
7. Content that is racist, or otherwise extremely offensive to others, including content which threatens or abuses others.
8. Sites that abuse our upload services by excessive uploading or attempting to maintain long-term persistent connections. This includes Web Cam sites that "camp" on the FTP servers to continuously update images.
Host Matrix.org may terminate user accounts at any time, without notice for conduct that violates these rules. Host Matrix.org may also terminate user accounts and delete any and all user information for conduct that it believes is harmful to its business, or any of its users, or partners. Host Matrix.org provides space for hosting web pages but makes no implied or express warranties about the reliability of this space or related services. Host Matrix.org is not responsible for any deletion, alteration, or loss of data due to network or system outages, file corruption, accidental deletion, or any other reasons. Host Matrix.org 'S RIGHTS
Host Matrix.org's rights include but are not limited to the below paragraphs. Host Matrix.org may elect to monitor any areas of the site or any of its services and may disclose any content, records, or electronic communication of any kind to satisfy any law, regulation, or government request or if such disclosure is necessary or appropriate to operate Host Matrix.org or to protect the rights or property of Host Matrix.org, its visitors, sponsors, providers, licensers, or merchants.
Host Matrix.org is not responsible in any way whatsoever for screening, policing, editing, or monitoring such content. If notified of allegedly infringing, defamatory, damaging, illegal, or offensive content, Host Matrix.org may investigate the allegation and determine in its sole discretion whether to remove or request the removal of such content from Host Matrix.org.
Host Matrix.org reserves the right to prohibit conduct, communication, or content that it deems in its sole discretion to be harmful to individual users, Host Matrix.org, or any rights of Host Matrix.org or any third party, or to violate any applicable law. Notwithstanding the foregoing, neither Host Matrix.org nor its providers, merchants, sponsors, or licensers can ensure prompt editing or removal of questionable content after online posting. Accordingly, neither Host Matrix.org, nor its affiliates, nor any of its officers, directors, employees, or agents, nor provider, merchant, sponsor, or licenser shall assume liability for any action or inaction with respect to conduct communication, or content on Host Matrix.org.
RESTRICTIONS
1. Limitations. The Service is subject to the following limitations:
-a. CPU Resources. User acknowledges that the Service is provided on a shared server and agrees not to engage in any activity that could overwhelm the server with heavy CPU usage or that requires a disproportionate amount of the resources of the Host Matrix.org server, including without limitation, use of highly active PHP scripts or MySQL processes.
-b. Reselling. All features of your account are to be used by the account holder only and not redistributed to the internet community. You may not install any uploading scripts or file managers which store public uploaded files on your webspace. You may not give out your FTP or account login password to anyone who is not related to webmastering your web site, nor may you give out your password for the purpose of public uploads or download. You may not sub host/resell or run your own web hosting provider on our servers, this included providing an account or website to persons who were denied an account by Host Matrix.org.
-c. User shall not include content, or internet links to content on the Site that contain, promote or involve any of the following:
--i. any infringement of copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or other intellectual property right;
--ii. hate propaganda;
--iii. racist, threatening, or otherwise abusive content;
--iv. pornography;
--v. the promotion or incitement of, or instruction for, the commission of illegal activities;
--vi. mail fraud, multi-level marketing (pyramid) schemes or any other fraudulent activities;
--vii. content promoted through the sending of unsolicited e-mail (also known as spamming);
--viii. sending of unsolicited e-mail (spam) from the Host Matrix.org server, or any other server that refers to content on the Host Matrix.org server, or sending such e-mail with a Host Matrix.org hosted Web site listed as the contact address;
--ix. warez, cracks, hacks, spam software & their associated utilities;
--x. information or other material that contains a virus, corrupted data or any other harmful or damaging component;
--xi. any files protected with any deceptive method to hide the true content of the file, or to hide a file inside another file;
--xii. download sites of any kind, including but not limited to, shareware, freeware, trialware, demos, warez, appz, gamez, iso, cracks;
-d. In addition to the above, User shall not upload onto their Host Matrix.org web space any of the following:
--i. audio or video files of any type this includes but is not limited to .wma .wmv .wav .mp3 .avi .mpg .asf .mov (however flash and midi files are allowed);
--ii. spanned archives such as such as .z01 .rar .ace;
--iii. any binary files that are not linked to an html page on the Site;
--iv. sites which contain only (or mostly) downloadable files;
2. Idemnity. User agrees that Host Matrix.org is not responsible for content on pages hosted on member sites and acknowledges that Host Matrix.org does not endorse or verify any such material.
3. Idemnity. User agrees to assume full responsibility for all files associated with the Site and acknowledges that User may be held legally for the contents of the Site.
4. Idemnity. Accounts, in our sole descretion, conciders to be storing only or mostly downloadable files are not allowed and will be terminated upon sight.
h. Backup and Monitoring. User is solely responsible for creating backups of any files associated with the Site and for monitoring the Site. Host Matrix.org does not provide backups nor recovery of lost files.
5. Notice to Officials. If Host Matrix.org determines that law enforcement officials should be notified regarding potentially illegal content on the Site, User agrees that Host Matrix.org may provide copies of User's web pages to the appropriate officials without notice to user. Host Matrix.org will cooperate with all law enforcement efforts to locate persons who have posted content that is illegal or promotes illegal conduct.
6. Policies and Guidelines. User agrees to abide by all policies or guidelines, together with any amendments thereto, set out, from time to time, by Host Matrix.org anywhere on the site www.Host Matrix.org
This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws without regard to choice of law rules. If any provision of this agreement shall be unlawful, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from this agreement and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining provisions. This is the entire agreement between the parties relating to the subject matter herein and shall not be modified except in writing, signed by both parties.
TERMINATION OF THIS AGREEMENT
This agreement is effective until terminated by either party.
You may terminate this agreement at any time, by destroying all materials obtained from Host Matrix.org, along with all related documentation and all copies and installations.
Host Matrix.org shall have the right to immediately terminate this Agreement with respect to any user which Host Matrix.org, in its sole discretion, considers to be unacceptable, or in the event of any breach by you of this Agreement. Host Matrix.org may terminate this agreement at any time and without notice to you. Upon termination, you must destroy all materials received from Host Matrix.org.
In addition, by providing material on our web site, we do not in any way promise that the materials will remain available to you. Host Matrix.org is entitled to terminate all or part of any of its site or services at any time, without notice to you.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT
This Agreement represents the entire understanding between you and Host Matrix.org regarding your relationship with Host Matrix.org and supersedes any prior statements or representations. You signify your assent to be bound by this agreement by using Host Matrix.org services. |
| Is there anything I should know about HM? |
- Host Matrix.org does not provide any backups of your website. Please remember to keep a backup of your data and website.
- Do not send support questions through emails. These will be ignored. Please post in the appropriate forums here.
- Host Matrix.org DOES NOT provide any guarantee with regards to the availability or the continued maintanence of webhosting services (although we have been around for nearly 5 years).
- Websites that use excessive resources (CPU processes) as a result of badly coded scripts or intense forum activity and database querying may be suspended for the benefit of other members.
- The accounts are NOT for hosting personal files or emails. Please use the service as it is intended or it may be recovered for others.
- In the event that your account is suspended due to high traffic and data-transfer, please make a request for a review of your site in the Termination/Suspension forum. |
