Hey there I just got some webspace here and I have designed a page using frontpage as I have not yet started to dabble with other programs like dreamweaver yet. I have designed a site for my rec hockey team and want to add a forum to it.
Anyways I want to try to add a bulletin board or forum to my webpage using PHPBB I guess. I am unsure of the info to put in some of the required fields?
if my name was joebloe.hostmatrix.org
Database Server Hostname / DSN?
Your Database Name?
What would the info be?
Much appreciated :)

Seems like you were installing it manually. You can do this much easier by cPanel, in "Scripts". Anyways, if you want to install it manually, the host would probably be "localhost". And the database. You need to create it in cPanel, "MySQL databases". There, you must go down until a little line "Db: [Box here, name your database] [Add Db]". Name your database something like forums. Then you will have a database named "(Yourusername)_forums". Go under the place where you just created the database. There's "Users:". Create a user like, again, "forums" with some password. Now you will also have a user name "(Yourusername)_forums". Now, go to the space ABOVE the Db-creating. There you can now select your user and db. Select the "Yourusername_forums" to both, place the tick to "all" if it isn't there and then click [Add user to Db] - Now you have a database ready to use. The database name is now (Yourusername)_forums or just forums. The hostname would be localhost, I think. Also, somewhere around the install there will come a place like "MySQL username". Here you must insert the user you created.
PS:If you didn't get a hang of my stupidly written things, you can give me your username and password and I will install it for you, or if you want to, IPB.

Hey thanks for the help I will try all that, and if I still cant figure it out I will send you a message and ask for help towards the end of the week.
:)
Okay so I got phpbb to work on my site and embedded in a page with frames so I can still view a menu bar and header on top that kind of goes along with my site so that is cool. I kind of fiddled around and took your advice and found all the info I needed on cpanel that hostmatrix provides here.
I now have one problem though...
I have up until this point edited all my webpages with MS Front Page and for some reason when I go to edit my webpages with it now I cant connect, or it wont connect to my webspace to I can edit the pages directly from there. Any ideas? Does it have something to do with only being able to use 1 database and that is now in use because of the PHPBB that I just set up?
Much appreciated.

Hmmm I am thinking it might even be the Front Page Extentions on my account through cpanel, going to go check that now.... oh yeah I think that is what I did. Like a twit I erased the extentions. I hope it is no problem getting them back and it wont affect the performance of the site.

Ah it's all good, I figured things out and my site is up and running fine now with everything that I wanted on it. Thanks for all those that offered some help though.
