Well while searching for themes for my College Portal (http://haileyportal.tk) being hosted using PhpBB (http://www.phpbb.com),I went through an interesting website which has modifies the old phpbb code and has added much more functioning capabilities to it.
Its called Phpbb Plus (http://www.phpbb2.de/), once again great work by German developers(i think so). It has shoutbox,personal image library for users, and most importantly the Birthday mode which is,nt present in original phpbb. In short its a great release which includes the additional modes which are difficult to employ by a single user but r great to use.
It also allows users to insert Flash movies in their posts and helps them keep a list of favorite topics by bookmarking them and storing them.And most importantly it also has the pictures of your country to display in your profile(not as your display pic).With additional "downloads" secion, "add links page" and advances quota management for users it is likely to promote the nexgen phpbb. Hope u like it.
But one main thing to notice is that it does,nt support the templates which r made for original phpbb version.

Nah, me personally don't like this kind of Portals. Its not original... at least for me not :)
But yeah i saw that phpBB portal and i think that the next version of phpBB will look like a portal if a read it correctly on phpBB forums.

I have used them a while ago . Fotr me its buggy than normal phpbb2.

I have also used Integramod. ( More buggy )

If I remeber correctly Creator is anti phpBB for a very good reason. :D And as I posted in one of your numerous other threads I dont like portals.
