Which ones are free in that list, apart from phpBB?
Also, what about e107? Does anyone get much satisfaction with that.
And I've seen phpNUKE mentioned a lot - does it has a forum/BB function?

I believe that phpNuke comes with a mod of phpBB.
And quite a few of them are free, to find out whether they are or not, yahoo them or google them.

Same here, Shwaza...But I didn't vote at all, can't decide between those two. I think I like PhpBB more, though.

I'm pretty sure you can find most, if not all, of them in the Script Library.
e107 and PHPNuke are actually entire Content Management Systems, not just BBs. :)

Making your own is quite a rush. :D
But if I had to choose from the list, I chose IPB. A great user interface, it's flexible... and plus I still have a copy of the 1.3x source code. :D

phpbb is simplest u can go but ibp u need to work with skins templates and other stuff got more features than phpbb i voted for xmb but i think phpbb and ibp is better than xmb xmb got only couple skins and thats all in whole internet i think, i tried to find some more but just didnt find also ranks and stuff are kinda messed up after all i think if they worked on bugs and fixes on xmb i think it would be best ...

Well you can still use older version of IPB for free. Like 2.0.0 or 1.3.x :D
I have never heard or used XMB before this thread, can someone show me a good example or a forum using it. :D

From the point of view of a regular member, who likes various skins, and many optional addons, etc. then I would go with phpBB.
But from the point of view of an admin/moderator, i would prefer IPB natively, unless a mod has been installed in phpBB.
As far as posting goes, I doubt whether I will anytime vote for a screen rather than that of vBulletin. I believe that the post interface has been done very well.
The others, I am not such a fan.
So my vote goes to phpBB.
vBulletin is the best, even though it isn't free or in the list here. I've been a member and an admin at a lot of different boards using different software, and I love vBulletin both as an administrator and as a user.
