For my hostmatrix site, I plan on posting news articles and stuff like that. I want a simple way to be able to have the ability for user to psot comments. Nothing like being registered. Just type in a Name and then a Comment.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I dont know anything about PHP, so this migth not even be PHP. Bu any help would be appreciated.
For the name it would be like a 1 line text box, and the comment would be an multiline unlimited one. Anyhelp?

Well, you'd need PHP for this; you can use MySQL or flat files to store the data; it's up to you. I actually think it'd be easier for you if you just went to the scripts library and install a script that suits your needs; there's tons of scripts there that do this kinda stuff

If you're talking ONLY about news, there are several (we)blogs in cPanel, if about a bigger site there are also CMS(Content Management System)s, like Mambo and PhpNuke.

For what you need, something like CuteNews should be enough; there's no need for a CMS. There's really no "walking-thru" for these scripts... go to the scripts library, find a script that suits you, click install... and go to the URL for the admin panel (it tells you where it is); almost everything is adminstered and controlled via the web interface; no coding necessary unless you need to change some fundamental layout

Yeah use CuteNews instead of the other as it is a news Script rather than a portal one. And stores the News in Text files.

CuteNews is probably the best... i mean there are tons of options... but they all store the news in a mySQL database... Use cutenews... it will make your site easier to make :D
