I have been looking around and have found the Scout Portal Toolkit that looks like it will meet my needs. Internet Scout Project (http://scout.wisc.edu/index.php)

The install required a command line to be run. From the FAQ:

3. I only have FTP access to my web server. Can I run SPT?
At this time, command-line (telnet, ssh, or console) access is required to install SPT. The command-line portion of the installation is very brief and self-explanatory, so you may be able to upload the package to your web server and ask the site administrator to run the command line portion for you.

Is this possible at hostmatrix? Does cpanel have a way to run a command on the server?

More details from the site:

Once you have the above information and have downloaded the two SPT distribution files (sptinstall-1.2.3 and spt-1.2.3.tgz), place those files in a directory on your web server and begin the installation with the command:

./sptinstall-1.2.3*

(Note: After downloading the distribution files you may need to make the install script executable with the command:
chmod a+x sptinstall*
If you're not sure what this command means, try the preceding command to start the installation and consult your system administrator if you get an error message like Permission denied.)

The install script will ask you for some of the information you gathered above, and then direct you to a web page where you can complete the installation.

We can give you shell access. I think you can run commands via shell access.

Creator,

I would really appreciate getting shell access. I am trying to find the best CMS for my project and this one has powerful metadata capabilities that I would be able to use. If you could hook me up I'd appreciate it.

Mike

Im not sure if some permissions got wiped with the move to faster servers, but I have not been able to log into my shell account to run a command or two that I need to...can you check if it is in fact still enabled?

Thanks,

Mike
