View Full Version : Disk Space

I'm a bit frustrated with Cpanel, maybe I'm not doing something right. I decided to ditch my phpbb forum to use Wordpress under Fantastico, but when I deleted the forum (in both MySql and in the public_html folder) it still showed that I am less than a meg shy of my disk space limit. I'm positive that I wasn't over.
Here's the weird part.. When I click on the "disk usage" icon in Cpanel, and then click "top level," everything totals a little over 12 megs. But the stats on the main Cpanel page claim that I'm using 19 and change. Does it take a while for that figure to change after I've deleted something? I dunno what's going on, but I'd sure like to be able to add wordpress it's not letting me, saying I "don't have enough room."
Can anyone help me out? :) Thanks
I know this sounds silly, but did you empty the deleted items from your trash? I only mention it because I always forget!

I also noticed that in the "www" folder (in the same top level as my public_html folder) there's a copy of my entire website. It looks like just a copy of the public_html folder. What function does this serve? Can I delete this "copy" or is it being used for something?

Delete it if you want. It's just a copy I think.

This was a very odd problem and is thankfully now solved, well worked around actually.

I was having this problem when I wanted to reinstall a phpBB forum to my site, I deleted it manually, then in fantastico it said I didnt have enough disk space. But I found another link in cPanel to "Bulletin Board" and it let me install it from there, so I dont know what the difference is, but I am not complaining. :)
Delete it if you want. It's just a copy I think.
Don't delete it. When you go into the www folder, you're just looking at and controlling what's in the public_html folder. It's a cpanel feature.

look at this go to scripts library on cpanel not the fantastico but where u made the phpbb board where u installed it on and then click on phpbb if u find in the scrool thing and it will say if u already have an existing phpbb forum on there and name of it next to scroll it says remove it click that and wait for it to remove and there u go i think thats one more thing that u need to do i dont know i deleted before database of my forum and in public html and it still was that i was using some more space which i didnt or u can delete ur php chats or something u made outside of scripts library or fantastico./
