I've read at uni.cc webpage that they can act like toplevel domains... .com / .net / etc... is that allowed here? like instead of me.hostmatrix.org i have me.uni.cc? thanks. :D

I wasn't sure where to put this, so pls. move it to the right forum if needed.

Does it work alright with mySQL servers and such, as I've heard things like dot.tk can screw up your server?

Thanks.

.tk domains are practically worthless, as they are just a frame of your site, therefore they are terrible for search engines. Uni.cc actually has a DNS, and can be used as a real domain, see tims site> http://tm-software.uni.cc :)

I really don't like .tks because when I submitted it to a search engine, the key words weren't something I put in, they were things like web cams and stuff in a different language. I really don't like it. Never tried uni.cc but from what I heard it is very good. :)

Just curiously: If I had my site hosted at www.something.uni.cc, if someone went to www.something.uni.cc/folder/, would it go to something.hostmatrix.org/folder/?

Liam, uni.cc no longer offers DNS for new registrations. They plan to have this feature back; hopefully they get it up soon. I registered a uni.cc url less than 5 days after they stopped offering DNS service... grrr

@zalt4n,
They address this on their site (FAQ). I dont quite remember, but I believe it's actually http://folder.something.uni.cc not something.uni.cc/folder Please correct me if this is wrong.

Well, as i was just informed by Bill, uni.cc has still not revived their DNS thing, so you can basically just scratch my first post lol. However if/when they get the dns going again, then yes you would be able to have file extensions, folders etc.

uni.cc is currently down now, but I've heard somewhere that they're upgrading their DNS servers and if should work sometime soon now. :D
