wow dude this is gonna be hard how bout you ask what you want to know. i tried typing up a tutorial and i had a full page and i was still just talking about motherboards. Like tell us what you want to do with your computer and your budget.
well, I would like to know how to upgrade a motherboard. Do you have to buy new parts for the computer just to make the new motherboard work?

You only have to buy all new parts if they arent compatible with your new motherboard. Like if i have a Pentium4 Socket 478 then i cant use the same processor if i buy a LGA775(Socket T) motherboard(mobo for short) same with the RAM. The mobo will determin the lowest RAM you can use, so if you have PC2700 and your mobo only goes as low as PC3200 (DDR400) then you cant use the same RAM. What do you have right now? What are you system specs?
I can recommend a good book "Upgrading & Repairing PCs" by Scott Mueller. It's really good. It's on it's 13th or 14th edition by now. It helped me finally conquer my fear of opening my little beige box.
NeededHelp.com will have some up in a day
