what does this mySQL error mean

Sometimes i get an error like mySQL is currently unavablie, please try again later

It might mean that they took it down at a server level. Next time that happens check your cpanel under server status to see if mysql is up on the server.

An admin could possibly answer you better here.

Today there was some issues with the mysql database. My site was having problems but then again so what this entire site.
