In a previous post (http://forums.hostmatrix.org/showthread.php?t=3025) Starmena once said:

well maybe we can start a trivia topic or something

and it reminded me of one that had me stumped for a while a few weeks ago.

It's just a quickie, so here we go.

In a factory there is a box that weighs 12Kg and is completely empty.
What can you put in the box to make it 1Kg lighter?

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-06-2005, 03:03 AM
Ummm...

-1Kg? :P

As you may be able to tell I suck at riddles.

EnderX

You can put holes into the box to make it lighter.

galbus
03-06-2005, 03:07 AM
Very quick Ender and congratulations. You win the holes in the box. :p

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-06-2005, 03:09 AM
Psh! Holes... What about helium filled balloons? :P

This isn't a trivia question as there is no right or wrong answer, I guess its perspective:

Is the glass half empty or half full?
(I'll answer later, its late :p)

I have one. I cant tell it very good but I'll try.

This guy was murdered in his vehicle. The thing is that all the car doors were locked and the windows were up. Also the murderer wasn't already in the car and didn't break through anything to get into the car.

How did he get murdered?

mck9235
03-06-2005, 04:19 AM
Posioned through the air conditioner...

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-06-2005, 04:22 AM
Is the glass half empty or half full?
That sounds like something a shrink would ask. I've already told you people I am not crazy! I was tested for crying out loud!

He killed himself?

Is the glass half empty or half full?
Heard a joking answer to this question. An engineer looks at this problem as: The container is twice as big as it needs to be.

makeinu
03-06-2005, 05:19 AM
carbon monoxide poisoning from the exhaust

RavensChild
03-06-2005, 06:18 AM
no you still havnt gotten it....except i just realized i made a mistake...the murderer slit the guys through and he wasnt already in the car and didnt break in. How did the murderer get into the car.

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-06-2005, 06:26 AM
The murder victim let him in?

He was at a drive-thru?

RavensChild
03-06-2005, 06:37 AM
no...do you give up? It is acually very simple indeed

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-06-2005, 06:40 AM
He shot through the window? :P

Edit: Uh, wait he had his troat slit. I'll get it someday.

Psh! Holes... What about helium filled balloons? :P

Arg, that's what i was gonna say, I'm too slow! :P

@ RavensChild

The murderer had a key to the car, or took the key from the car. He obviously locked all the doors after killing the man. Either that, or the man never died in the car, but was placed there after his death, then locked the doors with the key.

EDIT: oh god that made no sense earlier :P

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-06-2005, 05:06 PM
Maybe the murderer owned the car?

I am so confused...

@ RavensChild

Either that, or the man never died in the car, but was placed there after his death, then locked the doors with the key.

EDIT: oh god that made no sense earlier :P

I'll vote on that one. I instantly said exhaust poisoning until I saw that he had his throat slit so if its not that, I have no clue.

RavensChild

Well the murderer got into the car from the roof.......it is a convertiable

my_reflection
03-12-2005, 02:48 AM
oh for the car one is that he was in a convertablie

lol...i've heard a couple riddles like that one.

1) a man is found lying dead in a field. He has not been shot or stabbed, but he is nonetheless thoroughly dead, and not of disease. Beside him lays a pack.

2) a man is found dead in a room with 52 bicycles.

what killed them?

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-13-2005, 12:58 AM
1. He was hit in the head with a baseball?

prettydang1
03-13-2005, 01:01 AM
No...but good guess! I actually hadn't even thought of that. But, no, that's not it.

RavensChild
03-13-2005, 05:04 PM
1. cigurets
2. working out to much?

prettydang1
03-13-2005, 07:38 PM
1) No, that'd be disease ;)

2) You're going in the wrong direction. Go 'Outside the box'.

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-13-2005, 11:25 PM
1. Heart attack? Oh! Better yet, he WAS rock climbing, and fell... and landed in a field?

2. His brain exploded from seeing 52 bicycles and 104 wheels in one room?

In #2, does that follow the same rules as the first one? (He was not shot, stabbed, etc.)

prettydang1
03-13-2005, 11:33 PM
1)lol...heart attack'd be disease. But you're closer to the right track with your second guess.

2) No, and no. The guy was murdered. But the bicycles are important. Think farther outside. The box, that is.

hpmad7
03-14-2005, 03:06 AM
2) heheheh, i got it! The "bicycles" are playing cards. 52 cards (bicycle cards!) so he's dead in a gambling room or something...

hpmad7
03-14-2005, 03:18 AM
Wait... the two riddles tie in together!

A hot air balloon was losing altitude and in a desperate attempt to save their lives they decided to draw matches. The one who took the broken match would be sacrificed by being thrown overboard to save the others. And the people in the balloon were bicycle salesmen travelling to an exhibition with 52 bikes on board. Before they drew matches they first attempted to regain altitude by hurling the bicycles from the balloon.

Or it could just be that the man was gambling too much with Bicycle cards and he was in a lot of debt and he was killed.

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-14-2005, 03:50 AM
1. He jumped out of a plane and the parachute didn't work!

2. Someone beat him to death with a box to the bicycles that you also seem to want us to think out of? Smothered him with a box? Threw a bicycle at him and he fell into a box but was so weak he couldn't get out and he starved to death... in the box? He was killed OUTSIDE and someone stuffed him in a box and put him in a room with bicycles?!?

1. & 2. Death killed them! Muhahahahaha! I win! I WIN!!! Now the I can use the ancient Ben Stiller Ego to power the world (either that or my entertainment center...)! Ah hahahaha har har!

hpmad7
03-14-2005, 04:20 AM
I think bicycle is the brand name of cards!!! So the guy had a gambling problem, and he was killed while gambling because he was in debt!!!

This is my answer for both of them, i think they tie in.

prettydang1
03-14-2005, 02:54 PM
Haha....well, Dr. WolfGang, you got #1...the pack was an unopened parachute. He jumped, but it was faulty, and so he died in a field where he landed.

hpmad7, you got #2 first. The man was a gambler, and in a game against some ruffians he cheated, and so they killed him, leaving his 52 Bicycle brand cards in the room with him.

yours.

hpmad7
03-14-2005, 03:56 PM
Yay! I got it... hehehehehehhehehe, this is sorta fun!

Jozeh
03-14-2005, 09:25 PM
I got one:
What can go up a chimney, down, but cant go down a chimey, up.

prettydang1
03-14-2005, 09:39 PM
...Smoke? Is that one too obvious? Ummmmm...I'm stuck on smoke. It's not smoke, is it?

hpmad7
03-15-2005, 02:53 AM
I also think it's smoke... just because prettydang1 said it! hehehehehe...

Jozeh
03-15-2005, 07:28 AM
no its much more simpler but thaty is very god lol i cant see how smoke can go down a chimneu, up though???

prettydang1
03-15-2005, 07:05 PM
hmmmm....something that can go up and down. when it's up, it can't go down a chimney. when it's down, it can go up.

what can go down and up? A CAROUSEL!!

but...no.

ummmm....oh, gosh, I've HEARD this one before. Carousel is stuck in my mind....but it's not. It's like carousel...

 :(

PARASOL!!! IT'S A PARASOL!!! am i right?

starmena3
03-15-2005, 07:54 PM
ooo I know the answer. An Umbrella :) am I right?

and If I am then solve this easy one that you probably heard before"

There are 10 birds in a Fence. You shoot one of them. How many are left?

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-15-2005, 08:00 PM
None, they'd all fly away?

starmena3
03-15-2005, 08:02 PM
well that was too easy. let me think of another one

There is a certain crime, that if it is attempted, is punishable, but if it is committed,
is not punishable. What is the crime?

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-15-2005, 08:05 PM
Is it a murder-suicide? :P

starmena3
03-15-2005, 08:09 PM
well your on a role :) ok here comes ANOTHER one

Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words
in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses
every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is.

Jozeh
03-15-2005, 08:52 PM
lol that ones gdf hmm no idea but yeah parasoul or umbrella is right for my riddle lol

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-15-2005, 09:06 PM
I know the answer but I cheated to figure it out. :P

starmena3
03-15-2005, 09:29 PM
lol so ya give up? and yeah if you cheated then you already know where I got this riddle from. anyone else wanna try to guess?

prettydang1
03-15-2005, 10:00 PM
again...the most obvious answer would be 9....but, if you shoot a bird, the other birds fly away. So, there are zero birds left. how's that?

starmena3
03-16-2005, 03:08 AM
lol yeah They all fly away cuz of the gun shoot. They get scared. but no one has answerd this riddle yet:

Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words
in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses
every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is.
lol yeah its a hard one and I didn't figure it out until I looked at the answer

prettydang1
03-16-2005, 05:51 PM
Language!! Lol! The third word in "the english language" is "language"!! Good one. It's like, floccypoucinihilipifilicate means "to esteem something to be worthless" can you spell it?

"I-T, it" haha.

I think I misspelled that, btw.

Here's a new riddle: Every person that ever was, in the whole history of mankind--EVERYONE--is lined up in no particular order. How could you find Adam and Eve?

hint: it's not that they're naked.

yours.

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-16-2005, 09:07 PM
Ask for Adam and Eve? :P

prettydang1
03-16-2005, 09:47 PM
lol...that might work, but we're pretending they can't talk. How could you recognize them in a crowd of everyone that ever was?

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-16-2005, 09:49 PM
They would be the oldest? :P

prettydang1
03-17-2005, 06:16 PM
No. It's a physical attribute. Oh, here's the answer (highlight to read, in case you're still guessing to yourself):

Adam and Eve were never born, they were created as adults, so they wouldn't have belly buttons. A belly button is the scar unique to people who are born...that is, everyone but Adam and Eve.

yours.

hpmad7
03-18-2005, 04:28 PM
Oh!! That's a good one. Here's mine:

On a sunny day, a ship was in the harbor. All of a sudden, the ship began to sink. There was no storm and nothing wrong with the ship but it sank right in front of the people's eyes.

What caused the ship to sink?

I'll probably forget the answer so I'm just going to write it down here. Highlight/Select it to see the answer.

The captain order the crew to dive in. They were in a submarine so they could go underwater!

prettydang1
03-18-2005, 07:18 PM
Good one. I've got a similar one:

A couple are out on a sail boat, waaaaay out on the ocean, when the wind died. They had no oars, or anything that would help them get back to shore. But looking around they saw many other boats floating about, so they decided to signal for help. Using the universal sign, they hung their national flag upside-down, so that other ships could see their distress.

After several hours, no ships came to their aid, even though some came close enough by far to recognize a symbol of distress.

Assuming all the ships in the area knew about this rule, why didn't they come?

yours.

stealthblade
03-18-2005, 07:41 PM
Because the flag was exactly the same both ways up and it cannot be upside down. e.g. Englands flag is a red + how can you know if its upside down, you can;t

hpmad7
03-18-2005, 07:43 PM
Did the flag, upside down, say something bad that offended people or something?

prettydang1
03-18-2005, 09:47 PM
lol...no. the answer's in the question, if that's not a big enough hint. good tries, though.

stealthblade
03-19-2005, 10:04 AM
All of them had upside down flags and couldn't help each other ??

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-19-2005, 10:18 AM
Because it was a pirate ship and they didn't want their boat stolen?

Yes on issue 9,653 1/2!

prettydang1
03-19-2005, 07:18 PM
lol...no they all weren't stranded, and no they weren't pirates. look closer at the riddle!

yours.

mck9235
03-19-2005, 10:09 PM
Nobody liked that country, or the flag wasn't a flag at all?

EDIT: This has been moved to the newly created jokes, riddles, and forum games section! :)

03-19-2005, 10:54 PM
lol...no they all weren't stranded, and no they weren't pirates. look closer at the riddle!

yours.

no1 saw the flag; the wind died.

prettydang1
03-20-2005, 02:33 AM
Good job! you got it! If there wasn't enough wind to raise their sails, how could there be wind to lift their flag? Nobody knew they were in distress!

How about this one...oldie but goody (i bet you already know it)

As I was walking to St. Ives,
I spied a man with seven wives
every wife held a sack
every sack held seven cats
every cat had seven kits
kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
how many were going to St. Ives?

yours.

DrWolfgangVonBubbles
03-20-2005, 02:35 AM
None. He was going to St. Ives not all the other stuff/people. :P

prettydang1
03-20-2005, 02:35 AM
well, you caught the concept. ONE person was going to St. Ives: the narrator.
