View Full Version : Retirement of a Super Mod
Sage Tech

It's with great sadness that I have to announce the retirement from modship of one of HMs all time greatest moderators, 688206002, or Bill to his friends :D
I've not known Bill for as long as many here but I certainly have nothing but respect for the guy and have learnt a great deal from him in the short amount of time our paths were the same.
I'm pleased to say that Bill will continue to be an active member here and I am sure he will still do some mod like scolding when required :)
I'd like this thread to turn into the biggest thank you thread HM has ever seen, so if 688206002 has helped you in the past, helped you stop spamming or just been a great friend and moderator; then please post your thanks here and lets really let him know what we all think of him.
Cheers Bill, thanks a million.
Thanks Bill, you were an awesome moderator and always had insightful response. You took care of those darn spammers and kept HM in order.
THANKS A BUNCH! :) :) :)

Well, I knew it was coming. But, man, you were the last life line of these forums. And if not for ST here, you would still be.
You kept them together when Termy disappeared and when creator had exams and stepped up whenever anyone needed you.
You're a great guy and it's sad you don't have much time to spend here.
But, atleast your not leavin for good :P
Wow. It's going to be weird seeing your name, without the Super Mod under it. :( Nevertheless, you were probably the greatest mod HM has ever had and ever will see (no offense to anyone else). You kept this place running when everyone else left and/or had to go away for awhile for personal reasons. Mad props, yo. Oh, and you were the only person from HM to join EnderX and my own forums, thanks for that.
Thanks for everything, number guy. i still havent memorized your number. :(
Since you'll be reading this, PM me with whats going on with the lessons/courses site you put together - I still check it quite often - but nobody else does :(
Congratulations on doing such a great job for the duration of your modship. We all wish you a wonderful time being a member again, though I can't say I'll smile about it. You clearly deserve a retirement, after all, you can't mod for ever, can you? big thankyou, if it weren't for you HM could be a cyber wasteland right about now.
Nevertheless, you were probably the greatest mod HM has ever had and ever will see (no offense to anyone else).
688 was, is, and will be the greatest mod HM has ever had. And if anyone is offended by that, they need to realize the facts :)
Again, thankyou for all of the hours you put into this place! Everyone appreciates it.

Bill was the first person who ever talked to me on hm, and i was just looking in my pms, and i couldnt find the first one i ever recieved, i think it got lost in the move :(
Anyway, bill has helped me numerous times, and has done nothing but amazing things for this community :)
I hope that you can continue to be very active, and i wish you all the luck on your own site/game :)
Have a good life :)

Numbers was the first mod I ever talked to. You are a swell guy. When the whole fiasco with LD came up, he was the one who took charge and kept this place running. Without him, I (or anyone else) wouldn't be posting here today.
My hat goes off to you, numbers man. Hopefully you will still stay active in Extrace's forums too (not that there's much going on..) God Speed in whatever venture you plan to pursue.
I dont think I dealt with Numbers much since Ive been on, But I saw the help and work he did do.. Sorry your not going to be a superMod anymore, But good that youll still be around to help and stuff.. Thanks for all your hard work
Blessings,David:cool:

well I've been around long enough and have seen all that 688206002 has done with this. He has helped us in all of those good and bad times that HM was going through and he kept us and this forum together and very active, He did a really great job as a moderator and is one of the most friendlyest supermods I have seen in all my life of being in forum websites. It's sad to see you retiring.
Im sure that if there was a hall of fame here in Hostmatrix you would be on top. on behalf of all those members that also left HM we all give you a BIG Thank You for being with us here and we hope to still see you around.
Bow down to the Greatest Smod that ever lived :) and like geek said its going to be really weird seeing your name without the supermod under it.

Bill, i've been here awhile with you and well you've done a lot. Back in the day, when I spammed the hell out of this place (excuse the language), you were always great. [/cornieness]
Although you weren't the first mod here, I can honestly say you were the best. (sorry mahangee :p)
Also your always there to help me whenever you can, I can think of numerous things you have done for me that a lot of people probaly wouldn't. :)
Bill, I owe you a million thanks. I will see you around. (thank god your not leaving us totally)
As Starmena said we should give you a bow. :D *bows*
Its been a great 5 months.

He is not posting! NOOOO, anyway. I like to thank you on keeping me in order, giving or taking away warnings, and most of all. Criticze me for my spamming. Thank you
Well, I don't know you, but I do know your name was going to take a while to memorize. I never had the pleasure of being warned by you but I suppose that is a good thing. Enjoy your retirement, moderating isn't always a fun thing.

From what posts I've seen of yours, you've killed the spammers and helped those in need of it. Your moderating skills are legendary.
Nice to meet you, and sorry to see you leave.

Aww... not Gandalf!!! (for those who weren't here, his old avatar was gandalf).
I hate repeating what everyone else has already said, but you're one of the few people I know at any forum who manages to enforce the rules and keep on the good side of everyone you come across. All your posts have always been above and beyond what HM is looking for. I wish you good luck with this project of yours :) I'm sure we will keep seeing you around at time permits.

what I dont understand is why he retired :s
The main reason you don't udnerstand is that you joined when his retirement was about a week away.
History lesson people, listnen up:
688206002, or Bill to some, was one of the first mods, aside from magic and oblivous *shudders*, when he first was modded with mahangee he had about 6-7 forums, soon after he was promoted to smod. For awhile we had 4 smods, magic resigned and oblivious was power hungry, when he lost his position he launched a DOS. This was about 5 months ago and since then his work load has been increasing and increasing.

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone. In all the compliments you've been paying, I think you've all overlooked the fact that it's actually the bond of this community that kept us together through the hard times and progress certainly wasn't made by one man alone. Every single one of HM's members has contributed in his/her own unique way towards keeping this community going and making it a better place everyday.
Some people asked why I resigned :) Well, it was a tough decision to make but I did it for a couple reasons. First of all, I needed a change. Second of all, time constraints.
A big thanks and pat on the back to everyone for making this community a great place to be, and I'll see you all around the forums :)

awww, another retirement... terminator> then number dude... :(
it will never be the same again without you, moderating the forums, giving out warnings to violators :)
i guess you are right, everyone made a contribution by not spamming as much, and this made all mods' job easier.
oh well, i guess your school grades and time is the most valuable thing, good luck at school and in the future!

Completely uncalled for Mick Numbers...but I would expect something like that from you
Anyways, good luck Mr. Number Guy, it was fun being in the moderating team with you in the past. Good luck with whatever you going to be doing other then being on these forums (School, work, etc..) Anyways, hope to see ya around. You were a great person.

Its a sad news. Numbers is the greatest moderator any forum can get.
He helped us at the time when we were lacking good members. He even managed this forum for two, three weeks when we admins were on vacations / exams. The effort he has put in is no where comparable to other mods or admins. ( including myself ). Thankyou Number guy for all your efforts. Hope you had a wonderful time at HM.
Best wishes and have fun!
Regards,
Creator.

Well, recently since the year 2005 I believe I may have actually gotten a life! Shocking, I got married on February 14th, I got a job working at the local Computers Plus here, and I am probably on my computer for approximately 15 minutes a day, which I use to play WoW (World of Warcraft)
My new life is good and all, but I miss my good ol' days staying up on the compute for 6+ hours a day, 4 of which were on this forum. Yeah, that was the life...Running this site with Creator, Microdude, [sarcasm] and having my little competitions with my little buddy Oblivious [end of sarcasm] This site was great, but when Mahangee and 688..whatever ur damn name is....came to be mods, IT BECAME EXCELLENT! Everyday having to delete mck's spam was the best time of my life!
Anyways, I think im done rambling...my 15 minute time limit is almost up.
So cya around 68829381 whatchamacallit...You will always be an HM Legend (With me :D Ya you all know, you gotta love Magic)
O ya I forgot: A note to Creator, this green puke skin is very annoying! Of course, the forum has to be my least favorite color, I see how it is..you knew I hated green so you thought that if the forums were green that I would never come back..WELL FORGET IT! I am Magic, I never dissapear ;) O wait..isnt dissapearing a part of magic? Ill think about it..maybe you will too...someone talk to me..im bored...
awww.... :'( why are you leaving :'(
you've been doing a great job all that time
besides, even tho you've retired it seems you're still a HM mod to me @_@;;
**her brain: Numbies = HM sMod; HM sMod = Numbies**

You spend 15 minutes a day on the computer, unheard of :eek:I couldn't imagine me doing that.
Oh congrats on the marriage thingy.
Speaking of microdude, he mods another hosting forum.
Hey don't tell people about my spam, I want to seem big and powerful. Mwuhaha. :D

I haven't been around long in this forum, and I check back here every so often, but when i saw that 688206002 was leaving, I (like many people) was saddened. One of the most active members of this forum has left. However, I am sure this forum will still thrive.
No one seems to get it :) 688 isn't leaving HostMatrix, he's juust retiring from his moderating position.

I can't say much; now that ST is a new admin (somewhere i've heard that name before) and Bill retiring, I've been away for a very long time. A month, at least, to say. But in that month, half the senior members have left and so have I; and coming back has made taken me by surprise. All the prophesies that some people have told me have come ture, and I continue to see a change.
Bill was my first friend here, and ever since then, he's been the reason for my great activity here. As soon as school hit me hard, I've been totally lost. Merely hearing from him has kept me up-to-date, and even today, I feel like I know everything that's happened.
From his years of experience and the amiable character he is, to the still many years of coding experience, to the arm and had he gives us to help us up, Bill is surely one of the greatest moderators of all time. I don't want to restrict this statement to just HM, but to all the forums out there in this vast world we call the "Internet."
You will never find another guy like him.

Hey, i'm still here! :p
Were you an October or November, us October's go back. :p
Anyway that was almost a speech you gave, but it was all true, especially the coding and mod part. :) (I didn't quote all of it)
P.S. Glad to see you back. :) You had HSPT's right, I dread that.

Wow numbers, have you realized how popular you are? So far there is this huge topic about you not being a moderator anymore, but when it came to the first mods here, we barely got anything.
Microdude only had a topic about him leaveing due to his spam...pretty small topic. I dont think many people even knew about him...
Oblivious...need I say more?
Lord Magicdka...Was there ever a topic about this wonderful guy? I did a search...never found nuttin...Actually, I think I havent even seen a post about me.
HM seems like a pretty good forum as of right now, but I wouldnt really know anymore due to me never being here anymore. But for those of you that havent been here very long, or just havent been around when HM started, you should have seen the forum when it started! It was quite interesting, having to try and get HM to the top of the free hosting ladder, going through many up-and-downs, now that is the forum I miss. Not to say this forum is bad, but now its just kind of...cluttered. There is way too many members now...
