How do you start making your website?
I've tried the Cpanel link (http://www.hostmatrix.org/cpanel), but it doesn't work

So you want to create a website?
When your starting, you should try a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get).
You don't need any HTML skills, just some mouse cliks :).
A good WYSIWYG editor, is Dreamweaver. You can download this at: http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/tdrc/ind...uct=dreamweaver (http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=dreamweaver)
A great tutorial is at: http://www.iboost.com/build/software/dw/tutorial/786.htm
Have fun :)

Frontpage from Microsoft is also an easier editor to learn.....Notice I said easy not good. For a simple site it's really easy to learn.....If you can use word you can use frontpage. It does have many disadvantages which make it worse than dreamweaver but it's a lot less confusing!

I recommend learning HTML http://www.w3schools.com. As HTML is easy as pie.
And if you just want to get your sithe net, you need to upload it either via C-Panel's uploading source or by a FTP client. An admin should have sent you your FTP details.

Im sorry, but this is the worst idea that you could give him. Getting into WYSIWYG editors before you actually learn something of the basics is a bad move. You will then tend to rely on them for everything, and although that may seem easier now, in the long run you will see that coding everything yourself gives you the fexibility that no other program can possibly give you.

Hmmm I actually see xangelo's point there...but if he wants some jumpstart idea its another thing then after, say, 3 days of tinkling w/ WYSIWYGs he can go into code view and actually study the codes and get into HTML....that's what I (sorta') did... :)

Same here...after messing with Dreamweaver...went into Code View, and saw the codes and changed some things...saved the file...then went back to the web preview mode and looked to see if what I did changed ne thing....just trial and error...that works too...but get to know the basics of html codes...like the body, headers..and so forth....
