trouble setting up my website

Hi. I just got my website and i'm trying to put up a 'coming soon' page as my index page until i can organise my files and i was wondering if anyone knows how to get the browser to display that index page when http://blabla.hostmatrix.org/ is typed in? I tried redirecting but that didn't work and i tried sticking the index file in different folders but none of them worked. Also, does naming them .htm make a difference or do i have to call them .html?

I had the same problem. You need to put the index page in the folder called public_html. Once it's there, everything will be fixed.
