Can anyone please tell some ways to improve a site's ranking on google and other search engines.

It would help if you provided a link to the site you want improve rankings for.

However the easiest advice I can give is get more links from other sites, ideally sites with related content to yours. Start a link campaign and try to get one new link every day.

Sage Tech is right! Trying to get your site noticed is all about generating a buzz. If you want to improve your site's exposure, it will take time, good content and consistent marketing. Joining a link exchange program or ring is a good option.
