View Full Version : Space in between number thingys.

Instead of that odd looking space between digit grouping (i.e. 1 000) make it have a comma in between, the space just looks so stupid. :P
So it'd look like 1,000; not 1 000.
You know I really never noticed that, I guess my brain just put it there or something B) But since you just had to bring it up its going to bug the crap out of me

Of course it is. Look at your member number! "3 604"
WTF?

I think they did that because some countries "one thousand" is 1,000 and others it's 1.000
Likewise, some countries "one and two tenths" is 1.2 and others are 1,2
Either that, or they just wanted to be different. :P

But in those countries do they speak english? I thought this was like a english - only hosting.

I don't know. I do know that American is to the rest of the world what PCs are to Macs. They have to do Everything backwards. :P
Maybe in Canada or the U.K. they do it the other way. Besides many people come here and English is their second language so maybe they wanted to make it easier to read for them?

I'm sure that the non-english users can still read the numbers.
Anyways, the majority people are used to the comma anyways, so why use the space?

Most of the staff are sporting Sesame Street avatars, and you are commenting on how the number grouping doesn't make sense? :P

No, it doesn't make sense. The sesame street avatars are there becuase...just shutup! ;)
No, becuase sesame street r0x0rz.
Or how about just not have a space or a comma or a period? That should satisfy everyone.

Yes, that'd work.
But it would look almost as odd as the space.
USE THE COMMA!

Or we can just leave it alone... we're moving to a new forum soon anyway, in case you haven't heard. But on a side note, BB3K, I'd like you on my campaign team (if I had one or needed one) :)

No, and we aren't going to say more at the moment so don't bother asking :)
(And how is the forum software relevant to this discussion anyway?)

Oh, I forgot.
vBulluten rox0rz.
And I find it relevant becuase IBP has the settings of using the comma or not, and the fact that you brought up the new (Beta) forum.
If this is the case, and this forum is going to be deleted, this should be closed..
Thank you :).

actually it doesn't matter...it's just either the space or the comma, doesn't do anything big if you change it...nothing can satisfy everyone...remember that...

I was surprised to see there were 16 responses to this (before mine) and also a tad surprised to see me in this thread :).
To those people who cannot abide the spaces, watch out for commas in the comming weeks, I still can't beleive I'm contributing to this thread
