Okay most of these threads get off topic fast, this one were going to try not to. :P
After a week or so we'll see who has the:
- Best background
- Neatest Desktop
- Messiest Desktop
So heres mine:

i hate having icons on my desktop - thats what quicklaunch is for. :P
background is from ThemeXP.org (http://www.themexp.org/)
Here you go (http://home.ripway.com/2005-2/259308/desktop.png) Big, big warning: 1.02 MB!!
Uhmm.. yeah.
Anyway, I edited out half of the background because of my last name on the hill, and we wouldn't want to see that, would we?

Galbus, you have about a zillion icons, what do you do with all of them. :P
@Geek: Yea, it will be a new topic.
@Lovingff8: Are you a mac user? I see IE though. :S

There's versions of IE for Mac, of course :)
Canada: Your first desktop shot is sort of controversial. You have a "no more war" background, and then one of your icons is "America's Army"

Well I've got my Firefox download location as my Desktop so everything gets dumped there until I no longer need it (just like a real desktop). I know I should change it but instead I tend to clean it every month or so and this way I can access thing easily. And all of the program icons I use on a regular basis (at least once a week) so I like them there.
I like my mess anyway. It's like on the 80's cop films where the detective always has a messy desk but still knows exactly where everything is. Messiness and unprofessionalism are two different things.
...unless you're a cleaner. :P

Flames might I ask where did you get and how much was Windows Longhorn (Linux isn't that good with a computer with an old video card)

longhorn is not out in stores yet, to get it, you will have to get it in some other ways, like your friend from microsoft. :D

I think you are beginning to get off topic. You are a Linux user: don't go back to Windows. Plus, we don't do warez or any other form of illegal promoting here: you'll have to look elsewhere for a "free" version of Windows.
I'd post my desktop, but I really don't want to go through all the trouble, so I'll just describe it to you:
I change wallpapers almost every day. Hate looking at the same thing for a long time. Right now it's a Constantine background. Yesterday it was a Geek background. I have three icons on my dekstop. My localhost root folder (shortcut), my recycle bin, and a text document. All my programs are started with my quick launch icons on my start bar.. provides easy access. I may decide to put up the image.. but not today.

Sorry about that... and posting your desktop isn't that much hassle... just hit your Print Scrn button copy it to Paint or some other graphics program if your using windows then go to imageshack.us and upload the file where you saved it then copy the code they provide you and vwala :D

Well, I was going to show you this earlier, but didn't have time. Here's mine:

I change my background a lot, but I really like 3d abstract things :)
