Microsoft warns of potential undetectable spyware programs... click here (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=21326)

Information on a bill that bans spyware.. very interesting, especially if its put into effect (http://billg.ms-bs.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1225)

I am scared, I am talking with my mother about changing to Mac. Only allowing one windows one here. As for the second story, Bill Gates, if you are out there. Don't look in mine because you will only find anti-bush essays

im not really worried about the piracy part - if that part of the bill is passed, which i dont think it ever will be - too many lawsuits dealing with privacy would follow, but if it did pass, i think that it wouldnt be long after that where there'd be a program to deny access to these scans. It'd have to bust threw a lot of firewalls to work, anyway.

No offence but i have no firewall because it kept blocking my web page access, i run an anti-virus scan everyday and a spyware every few days so i am not scared whatsoever, i have already deleted 2 virsues so far using avast! I think that some websites help promote these bad things and i can give you an example RIGHT now www.rohitab.com promotes hacking and they create downloadable .ZIP of viruses and i think that website should be banned ASAP because these are one of the sources!

well, "banning" sites isnt that easy.. unless they violate their ToS with their host, nobody can do anything, unless the web owner themselves put viruses out. As longas they're just hosting it, and creating a "we're not liable for what you do with this file" agreement, its not their fault. I'm not saying what they're doing is ok, or good, but legally, they're allowed. It sucks, I know.

If you don't have a firewall running, its like greeting a burglar at your door, giving him a little bag to put things in. There are many firewalls that are easy to set up that don't really bother the user. I use Zone Alarm PRO from ZoneLabs. (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/catalog/products/sku_list_zap.jsp?lid=zasskulist_pronav) It's easy to set up, and doesn't bother me at all.
