Slicing

i was just wondering if somebody would take the time to write a thorough tutorial for slicing. i've been searching the web for awhile and can't find any that explain slicing, they just tell me to slice it and go from there. i want to know why i'm slicing, and whats it actually doing when im slicing it. and, of course, how to do it. thanks a lot

there'll hopefully be a tutorial on that in the new tutorial place. IF you can't wait for it, you can ask someon to take you step by step. apparently, I dont slice, so I won't be the first person to look at ;)

yeah just wait a while longer trust me once this site gets everything going you will find a bunch of helpful tutorials in here in just a couple of weeks. and no Im not the person to ask either just look at my site. Its full of HTML ONLY except for the exeption of one PHP code i put in there :P

well, i was really just wondering, i've been using photoshop for 3 years and i've never really caught on to the web design aspect of the program. I'm a senior in high school, when they brought the graphic design class (my sophomore year) the teacher knew about as much as we did at the time. I took part 1 and 2 of the class, and realized that i learn better on my own, the teacher makes us do things things that seem pretty redudant, so i thought i'd teach myself. if anyone has a brief explanation of slicing, it'd be great. thanks again

I would.. but.
I'm not even sure my way is the most proficient.
It's really easy, just get the slicing tool and slice then save for web
