View Full Version : Host Matrix Promotion
I've been working on a site which is similar, yet a lot different to clickherefree.
I found that I can spend hours on clickherefree yet always seem to find broken links, bad services, unworthy hosts. It took me a while to find host matrix but it's one of the hosts which has lasted, and have great uptime, good support and so on.
I was wondering if (preferably an admin), could help me by submitting a form which describes many details of the service. I am planning to list Host Matrix in the top five but need some info which I am unsure of.
The website is http://www.freehostguide.info and to submit the site, go to "Submit Host" "Submit FREE Host" and fill it in :)
Thank you! :D (I just set up the form today so let me know if there are any problems)

hey im not an admin, but i just wanna comment, good job! did you only come to hm to list us in your directory or whatever? anyway im sure the whole community appreciates it :)
Thanks! And no, I've actually been hosted by HM and I was really happy with it, so that's why I've thought of putting it in my directory. As you can see the site isn't all that great or finished right now, but im working on it.
And about the site. Im not making it a list of as many hosts as I can, like clickherefree, because that doesn't work. I want people to be able to find what they want, and sign up first try, without the fuss and time wasting that I experienced on other host listings.
I dont mind if you're not an admin and you submit a host, if you know all of the info on there then that's great. The more thorough the info the better too.
If you do submit the form though, it would be good to post here saying that you've done so. That way others can see that someone has done it and decide if they also want to bother :P

I really like what you're doing with this site. It looks awesome. One suggestion: in the near future, try and implement a pretty nice search function, one where you can search for only free hosts relating to blah and blah. It'll take some work but it'll be worth it, I'm sure.

First of all try to advertise your site in as many webhosting sites you can. Then if you find your site listed in top20 in google, we will add HM.
Otherwise submitting to a new directory is worth less. Thanks for the offer. :)
PS: we had this experiece from last 3 months.
I'll eventually implement a search, but it will take some time and work, yes. And i've submitted the site to search engines already, they'll take some time to kick in... just thinking of other ways to attract interest to it.
All ideas welcomed :)

Also probably the best way for you to get traffic is too go to clickherefree or any other sites telling you about free hosting and get lists of loads of free hosts, then ask all of them to join your database and get there members to vote. Should help you get traffic and make you become better known.
Well I could help with search I think, because I just built a search option into my Tutorial thing I have been making. :D
Well, the key thing about my site is that I dont want loads of lists of hosts. Just a good solid list of 20 or more (which obviously change since some go down, some new hosts appear, deals change etc) which are THE BEST of the hosting lists. Clickherefree has a lot of crap hosts in that list, and I dont want to send people to places where they'll get frustrated or crap quality hosts.
As it says on my site "quality over quantity".
And any help with creating a search would be great :D

There are some free search scripts out there that you can customize... if you're going to make your own, you could create a DB with all the important info (ie. columns for features such as "php","mysql","forced-ads",etc) and then the search can be done with one simple mysql query, which is pretty resource efficient too :)
If you need a better idea of what I'm trying to say (I know I'm not very clear sometimes :P), I can post some examples of code :)
Btw, I really like what you're doing with your site :)
Yeah, that method of searching is probably the way i'll have to go. I understand what you mean :)
Im just looking around at some scripts now, there are some really useful ones that will be good for the site (like right now im working on a live online/offline checker for listed hosts).
Once I am happy with all the features and layout, i'll start trying to advertise heavily :P. You may notice I just made a microbutton and added it with code on the homepage for any voulenteer supporters hehe.
EDIT: Just updated site with live offline/online checking for each host :)
Another EDIT: Added user ratings feature for all host lists. :D
