PHP RPG Game

Is it possible to make a shell of a game like Outwar, or any other online RPG that you can customize yourself with little PHP expierence? Or can someone guide me to a tut that can get me started on a PHP RPG game.

I can see 3 options that you can do as I dont believe they will be many if any MMORPG tutorials on the net. Learn PHP, come back and create a MMORPG from thin air
Split your MMORPG into chunks and look for similiar tutorials like that chunk then put all you parts togther
Go look on Sourceforge and get someones code then edit it to sort you purposes.
These are just my thoughts and ideas there may be other which you might prefer.
