Hi, everybody,

This is my first post and a first experience with free hosting. I need someone more experienced to help me solve the puzzle...

I just uploaded a single 'Site Under Construction' page and three GIF images (one of them is the background image). The page is in the "/public_html" directory and the images are in the "/public_html/images" directory.

When I first viewed the uploaded page in my browsers (Safari and Firefox), the images showed up properly. Then I added a counter to the page, previewed the page again and images were not there any more (but the counter images were shown fine). So, I stripped the counter code and tried again. No images on the page. I checked the directory on the server and images are still there. But they don't show up anymore.

What is going on? :(

did you go over all or most of the html tags u used? cuz maybe you just erased an ending tag or something like that. If your adding an Image make sure the image has the code like this. this is if your using HTML:

<img src="http://yoursite.hostmatrix.org/images/imagename.gif">

this might not solve your problem but incase your forgetting something this is what I can come up with other than that can you please giv us a little bit ore details or post the whole sorce code or something and someone might solve the problem for you.

Just visited your page,

And everything looks fine; I can see all the images but not the counter.

That's very odd! I just checked my site again (after clearing the cache in my browsers) and I still do not see neither the background nor the other two GIFs. Now, I really don't know what to think about it...

BTW, thanks for a warm WELCOME and super-fast response. I hope someone can still solve this puzzle for me!

Are you seeing anything at all? (ie. one of those broken images things)
Also, don't know if you've tried this, but can you access the images via your browser?

I made a couple of screenshots showing what I see on my screen when I open my page. I uploaded them to my page. I still can't see those screenshots, but maybe you can? Please, take a look: http://eob.hostmatrix.org/

Hmmm, tis strange; I can see everything just fine in both IE and Firefox; this is what I see in both (I posted only one screenshot):

I also tried accessing all of your images directly via the browser, and all of my attempts were successful.

Could it be a problem with your browser? (do you have image blocking turned on or something like that?)

This last question of yours got me thinking... Although my browsers are NOT set to block the images, I got a standalone application that may block images from sites other than those on the 'white list'. I do not remember setting it up this way, but I got to check.

Right now, I am going to bed, so I'll post the result of my investigation tomorrow. Thanks for your help!

Puzzle solved (sort of)!

I have checked everything I could think of, and then, I thought of i m p o s s i b l e .

It turns out that enabling the Hot Link Protection in my Control Panel had that strange effect... The thing I do not understand, though, is why you could see my images while I couldn't? Does this have anything to do with the fact that I am on the Mac and you are on Windows?

Well, now I got Hot Link Protection disabled and everything seems to be back to normal. I can see my images at last... But something still isn't right. Why can't I enable that damned Hot Link Protection?
