I was there thinking i need a way of letting other members know how i felt about memberx and member y.
Memberx pm'd me with a registry change, after properly readin through the changes (lines in a reg file) i noticed that if i had made the changes i would have opened a port closed by my firewall.
Now if i had posted that Memberx (sorry if this is a real member) was a wanker, i would have probably been banned, cos there is no way of legally proving what went on.
Rating members gives you the chance to see how other members polled Memberx or Membery , so you will get an idea if the information you are reading is accurate or in-accurate.
This means if memberx is rated as GOOD you can probably trust them, but if they where rated UGLY, then they would have to post a lot of good stuff in order to get there status back to GOOD.
Polling is good because it will ensure the quality and quantity of good posts.
Maybe we can use emoticons to visualise how the poll rates a member, and give a statistic of how many votes where recived out of a whole total of voters/members.

I really can't see how this is not a good idea.

well I think we should just put out a vote for the member you think that are good cuz putting a vote out for those members that you think are bad is just mean and can even start a riot, then we will be seeing members gettin at each other :P now that I thought about it, That is kinda funny.

i voted 'rating the good ones'. what i think is that there's always gonna be someone that you dun like and there's no point to think abt it -- it can be very tired to flame at/talk abt someone that you hate/dislike... so why should we think about it? but i wouldnt mind praising people that are nice :D

The idea is that the vote is anonymous, only host matrix knows who votes, like a real election. So how do you know who voted what for who? B)

yeah this is true but just think about the people whos name is up on the voting board and they found out how many people hate them. It would just make them feel bad and probably never wanna come back to this site.
(hey I just noticed Its been a whole month exact since I joined this site :P congratulations to me) :D

So if we take out the statistics, then how do you know how many ppl don't like or trust you.

I think polling is a bad idea.

However I would be in favour of a points system, where people could be rewarded for being helpful, or suppling good news or information, then by judging on the points you could tell if they were helpful or not. But in my system only some chosen people would be able to dish out points. Like Admins, Super Mods, Mods, HIghly respected members etc..
