vBulletin Forum System 3.0.3 - http://www.vbulletin.com - $85/year or $160/lifetime - Space Required: 5.57mb

Features:
-Number one forum system, set the standard for IPB and phpBB
-Excellent Customer Support
-Countless mods, hacks, and templates
-Organized, easy to use admin area.

How to Install:
[NOTE: My copy may be packaged differently then a purchased copy so some of the beginning steps may be a little different, but they should be similar]

PART 1
=====
1. Decompress the file using winzip/winrar to a temporary folder that you can access easily.
2. In the folder, find /includes/config.php. Open this file using any text editor you prefer.
3. Change the word root from LINE 31 to whatever username you have setup in Cpanel.
4. Now add the password to LINE 32 that was setup for the user you listed above between the apostraphies.
5. Move down to Line 37 and change the word forum to the name of your mySQL database.
6. You have just completed part one, save the file and close your text editor.

PART 2
=====
1. Using a FTP client or Internet Explorer, login to your webspace with your username and password.
2. You can now create a folder (ie forum, vbulletin, forums, boards, etc) or if you want the forums to be your homepage, you can skip this step.
3. Now upload the files you extracted. I had a package of files in an Upload folder and a few other files outside of it. Only upload the files in the Upload folder if this is the case for you!
4. It should take about 15 minutes depending on your upload speed. Once this is done, you have just completed part two!
5. Don't close your FTP session, you will need to delete something later!

PART 3
=====
1. Now open IE or any browser you prefer and goto http://yoursite.com/forum/install/install.php, where http://yoursit.com/forum is the directory and domain of your server space.
2. Your browswer window should look like this now:
http://img25.exs.cx/img25/4595/vbulletin_01.th.jpg (http://img25.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img25ℑ=vbulletin_01.jpg)
Click Next Step (1/13) to continue the install.
3. Step 2 will check if your config.php file is readable or not. If an error occurs, you must set the permissions of the file to 777. If you are given the all clear, click the Next Step (2/13) button.
4. vBulletin will now connect to your mySQL database. You will be given the option to clear the database if you have used it before. If you can spare the database, I suggest creating a new one just for vbulletin. If you had an error on this step, make sure the data you put in config.php is correct. Click Next Step (3/13) to continue.
5. vBulletin will now start installing manually. You just need to keep pressing Next Step (#/13). The order goes as follows: Table Creation, Altering Tables, Inserting Default Data, Importing Language, Importing Style Information, and Importing Admin Help.
6. You will now configure the basic settings of your board. This is pretty self explanitory. If you need help, don't hesitate to PM me. When you are finished, press the Procede button.
7. The board will Automatically import default settings now, all you need to do is press Next Step (11/13).
6. You will now create an admin account to access your AdminCP. Input a name, password, confirmed password, and email address and press Procede when you are done. If all info is correct, the system will tell you and you will now click Next Step (13/13)
7. You last step is to delete install/install.php from your forum directory. When you have done this, you can continue by clicking the word here in this statement:
The control panel can be found here
8. Congradulations, you have just completed setting up your vBulletin board. Now you can configure you forums by adding forums, categories, users, among other things. Just login using the admin info you have provided and you will be set.

Since there are so many features in vBulletin, I am not going to go into the details of the admin section. I also think many people won't go this route just because of financial reasons. I have however created a test admin account for users to play with the functions. You are allowed to do anything with the site as long as it does not bring down the forums or break any rules that would be enforced here. Feel free to post test posts, test topics, test polls, etc to see the style. Any inappropriate comments/material will result in harsh punishments. Keep in mind that your IP is logged ever login and post so don't think you will get away with anything.

You can login to the AdminCP HERE (http://oblivious.hostmatrix.org/vbulletin/admincp/index.php).
Username: Testadmin
Password: hostmatrix

You can view the forums HERE (http://oblivious.hostmatrix.org/vbulletin/).

[NOTE: I removed the User Administration from the account so the head admin account's password isn't magically changed and someone takes over the forum, forcing me to do more work. When I have a chance to backup the database, I will give the permissions back]

Enjoy another fine Oblivious Tutorial!

Well this one isn't free, and that is somewhat a problem. I posted it because it is very popular, and I managed to obtain a copy (shhhh!) so I wanted to see how it worked. While I installed it, I wrote a tutorial to help people out :P

You are going to want to use e107. I uploading the e107 stuff for you right now. It's easier to use ftp then the file manager just to tell you. If you are willing to shell out about $85/year, this forum is for you. But I recammend sticking with IPB, phpBB, or e107 :D
