contest idea

I think it would be cool to have a monthly contest where HM members submit their sites for review in a thread. Then the admin team selects what they feel are the top 10 or so sites to use in a poll. Then the owner of that winning site gets some sort of account upgrade.

I think this contest would be nice because among other things, it would encourage people to build better sites.

Just a thought.

Yeah this is a great idea, for a contest. Maybe we should round it off to 5 sites, as 10 would be too many for people to really get a grip on, but other than that a fanastic idea.

Awesome. I hope a lot of people are going to be interested. I think there should be a rule where if you win, you can't enter again. For at least a few months or something.

The idea is really good one.

But how are you gonna rate a site. All may not be of same content right? So on what basis ie, design, lay out or contents??

I think it should be an overall thing. People should take into account the content, the design, the usefulness, etc. when voting.

accessibility is a great factor though. like fluid sites vs fixed, 1024x768-is-too-big-for-800x600 sites

Why would you submit someone else's site to be entered in the contest?

I think it should be your site in HM only. And if you win it this round, then you can enter the contest again only after you change your site's design and stuff. While what about if you host more than one site in your account, like two totally different sites with different designs etc?

Yeah, I guess if you had more than one site or if you totally redesigned the winning site, you could enter again. But like, if someone had this really cool site, it wouldn't be fair to let him enter it month after month and have him win each time.

After someone wins they would be not be allowed to enter the same competition for another 2months or so. That would make it fairer.
