frontpage upload

can i upload my site using frontpage coz i find very easy to use and upload.
if yes then anyone plz give me the http:// address
or is there any file upload limit through ftp coz i cant upload my total web if there is a file upload limit(say 500KB or 1 MB)


if there r any hosts with no ads, frontpage extensions and upload supported and 20mb min space please send me the details. i'm in very urgent situation. plzzzzzzzz

Nope! :)

Host Matrix is better than before. After we have introduced recycle bin many spammers are gone and now we are having a pleasant and well maintened free hosting forum. :)

Ok, I was asking because it seems the moderators are fighting, the admins aren't on as much, and its not so much community friendly as it once was

And p.s....Creator, this is off this topic, so its my last post on this thread, but can you recreate my account yet? I have asked like for the past 2 weeks!!!!! I need it reset!!!!

But can i upload my site using http:// in frontpage 2002. please tell. i dont need upload through ftp its very strenous and has size limits. http:// doesnt have such limits. so please anyone tell me if hostmatrix has a capability of upload through http:// in frontpage. if yes how do i configure the cpanel.

Ummmm... you're there already. HM's got all you need

just login to the cPanel (http://www.hostmatrix.org/cpanel/) once you're approved, then you'll see the "Frontpage Extension" thing. Click into it and then you'll have the option to install the extension onto your site :)

server error:
possible causes:
1) the web server may not have the frontpage extensions installed.
2) the web server may be temporarily out of service.
3) if u are connecting throug a proxy server, the proxy settings may be incorrect.
4)an error might have occured in the web server"


and later it asks me to upload via ftp and i dont know the ftp address.

There's no need to reset the account.
The FTP can be accessed at:
ftp.hostmatrix.org (not ftp.chows2k4.hostmatrix.org)
and you'll need to enter your cpanel username/password.

You can also upload via Cpanel's File Manager.

Well, that's an Internal Server Error... does FP upload everything to the public_html directory (not likely to be the problem but it's worth a shot I guess)

in frontpage if u create a web with all your files for the website by importing it. check it works using the reports utillity. then go to file> publish web. in the destination box type this exactly : ftp://chows2k4.hostmatrix.org/public_html and thgen press publish. u will be asked tyo give ur user name and password. enter ur cpanel login not ur forum login. then i think u are done. it will publish the file. if u are looking for a better host that hostmatrix then i recommend that u don't bother becasue alot of the other hosts that say they have alot of attractive features turn out to be false or for alot of mone. Also how can u get better support than from this forum. i have learnt alot here. i hope i managed to help you

i do not have any plans to shif to any other host. but i cant even access the url u gave me ftp://chows2k4.hostmatrix.org/public_html. it says there is no web there. i cant upload all the files in my web to my site at once. i have to upload a single file at once to each folder which i find very tiresome. i cant do anything with the 500? error. it keeps on coming. i'm beginning to get frustrated with that error. i did not even place even a single page on my site in nearly 1 month. is there no http upload option for this server like in lycos or freewebtown etc hosts. please provide that facility. also i got my site as chows2k4.hostmatrix.com and not .org. is this any fault. plzzzzzzzz help.

Well I use frontpage and how i did it is:

When I published my site for the first time i just entered my site name (http://www.kneesbent.hostmatrix.org) - i did not use ftp - and then you have to provide your username and password.... Note this is not the same as your forum username and password. Well my username is the same but not my password. When you applied for hosting you should have recieved your account information with your password. Use that if you havn't changed in since then.

You might have known most of that but I'm only trying to clear up any confusion. Hope that helped

Well i would make sure that you enters http:// in your adress.
So dont enter www.chows2k4.hostmatrix.org, but enter http://www.chows2k4.hostmatrix.org . That's what i did...
If that still doesn't work... maybe your frontpage is messed up???

i tried with the http:// included now and before also. but in vain. please see the message which i recieved from the admin regarding the creation of my new accont in HM. coming to frontpage it has been working well and my brother (also uses my computer) uploaded his site to freewebtown.com(another host) using http:// in frontpage. it did work well with that host. the message from the HM:

Hey I'm thinking the whoever sent you your account information probably made a mistake when they told your you site is chows2k4.hostmatrix.com. I think it should be chows2k4.hostmatrix.org. Maybe you should send them an email (hostmatrix@gmail.com) and clear that up.

Man, I really dont know what you should do to get your frontpage working, cus from what you said it seems as though you've tried my way and it didn't work...
I think what you could do, is you can manually upload your web internet explorer using ftp. go to

ftp://yourusername@ftp.hostmatrix.org . Just put your forum username in the 'yourusername' space. It will then ask for your username and password.

username and password. Then it should display a list of your folders on your site. Browse to public_html.
Ok, now i'm hoping you already made a couple of pages for your site on frontpage. Find the folder that they are stored in and copy them. Paste them in the public_html folder. Make sure your homepage is called index.html.

I hope that helps. I dont know though cus i just tried to access your cpanel (not that i was trying to hack it, i just wanted to see if it works) but it didn't come up. I dont know if you're having the same problem. If thats the case, I'm thinking your account wasn't set up properly and you should then maybe email hostmatrix and ask them to recreate it.

Hey you're welcome man. I would go crazy if i could upload my site for that long. It's wierd though, every now and then Frontpage gives me grief with the uploading too. But it usually works the next day or so...

hey Chows2k4, what version of Frontpage are you using? Cus see i used to work on 2000 (i think) but now I have to work on Frontpage 98 and I'm also having problems publishing my site now. So this sucks. When i try to upload using http, it says: Server error:Client closed connection. and Ftp isn't working either. What a pickle....
Is there anybody out there that knows what to do? :blink:

2000 version doesn't work

my fp version is 2002 came along with office xp and is working well. i ahave uploaded other webs to other hosts, but this one host is not accepting me. The ftp:// also rejected me and it says 500? error has occured. i think this is the ftp upload limit error of 500 KB. The http:// doesn't work again. with all the tries i made. i got a host www.freewebtown.com and i put up my site there but he doesnt support php, asp, cgi etc advanced scripts. but finally i have my site on that free host. www.chows2k4.tk or www.freewebtown.com/chows2k4

I am leaving this host and am fed up with all the problems. thank u very much abrie for ur help. but ia will not leave the forums.

Hey i tried veiwing your site but its doing some strange things. I saw your flash intro and then it redirected to your index1.html page but then a second after that it redirected to 'http:///' -- and of course that gave me a 'page cannot be displayed'.
I'm using IE, so maybe it works in other browsers.

2) right after you have saved your web, click the publish button

3) type in [b]http://chows2k4.hostmatrix.org[B] and make sure that it is .org and NOT .com

4) when the thing pops up (just like in cpanel, put in your exact same username and password) then if you have submitted the correct site and username and password, it will show you all of the files and folders in your account. Then, you can choose where you want to upload your web to, then just click upload.

Now, if that is too hard for you to comprehend, there are some serious communication problems going on :P

Thank u shwaza for ur kind reply but this thing i have been doing for ages. so i give u an offer. my cpanel account name is chows2k4 and my password is *****. try uploading any web of ur choice and then if u are succesful please let me know how could do that and please give my account back. :P we shall see how much u would succeed. i can upload thru the ftp option but again i can't do that properly coz a 500? error pops up. my frontpage works well coz my bro has been uploading his site for nearly 1 year using the same program :P . ok wish u success bye

umm, i found your problem, your site dosnt exsist. When did you get your hosting? because i think that your site doesnt work. To double check however, you should go to cpanel, and just create a new file in public_html, and call it index.htm and just put some text on it, because right now, it looks like your site dosnt work :P

I knew that the site was not existing. what went wrong. i now have no option to bring this to the notice of the HM . Mr. Admin please spare some time to reset my account. Who stands responsible for my 2 month long wait now?????????? I can't wait anymore. any way guys u were of a lot of help. thank u very much for that. i may shift to another host now.
